The difference between a review and a recommendation.
✌🏼Sending Good Vibes!
Reviews might be good, neutral, or bad. They might be real or fake. Even the bad ones might be fake. A recommendation is inherently positive. As in "I unequivocally love this and want to share it with you." There's no such thing as a one-star recommendation. It's go with good vibes, or go home.
The theatre of reviews.
Do you ever get the feeling that reviews are more like scripted television and less like a reality show? Alas, a ton of those reviews are as fake as the drama between Hulk Hogan and André The Giant. In fact, 74% of us have read a fake review at one time or another.
Review? Wait, do you mean extort?
Ask any small business owner how they feel about online reviews, and then brace yourself for some heartwrenching stories of woe. Many employees have had to endure verbal abuse and unreasonable demands or be subject to a bad review.
The platform robots often remove the real reviews and leave the fake ones. When the biz owner needs an assist, they usually have to take out their wallets to get any help.
When did we start asking strangers for advice?
You may have one friend who loves The Olive Garden and another who will only eat fresh Penne flown in from Campania.
Another friend might love romantic comedies, while the other is into slasher films. The one you get recommendations from likely has similar tastes to you. Reading reviews is kind of like walking up to strangers on the street and asking "What should I try?" A quick peek in anyone's VOUCH Vault will let you know if you're on the same page.
