ACTIVITIES TO PREVENT CABIN FEVER
The bitter cold temperatures, snow piling up, short days and fewer sunlight hours has many of us facing a hearty dose of “cabin fever” from October to March.
The term “cabin fever” was first used when referring to early settlers that experienced long winters in their log cabins, snowed in until the spring thaw. This brought on not only long periods of time confined to small spaces (most of the time with families) but throw in the realness of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and you have got the perfect formula for cabin fever.
Kids are exposed to more passive entertainment like television and video games, but don’t provide the active or engaging entertainment or activity that they get during warmer whether.
